Head gasket is on and cam gears are all adjusted...
And i have more power. woot!
There is heaps more down low and it screams allot better up top.!
So Saturday i mad a trip down to Wellington to meet up with a fella who knows a bit more about 4AGES than me, and has worked on alot them for most of his life..
Firstly We took the head off, and cleaned it all.
We then chucked the gasket on and put the head back on, Torqued it all up and then went on to tune the cams up.
I run standard cams but we changed the cam lob centres to 106 degrees instead of the factory 111 degrees. (They run the 111 deg factory for lower emissions)
So the cam gears were on and all tuned up after some patience.
Everything went back on and we started her up, it was running reasonably well, but when trying to adjust the timing with the dizzy it would never stay still. We then remembered the diagnosis box has two points E1 and T that need to be shorted when adjusting the timing.
With that shorted it was easier to time.
So the end result is a slightly tweaked inlet cam that opens earlier, lets more fuel and air in for longer giving it a little bit more of a "bang".
But wait.. that's not all.
Turns out that the wreckers have a lightened flywheel with a TRD semi heavy duty clutch attached to it.
Ooo.
Just might have to grab that..
Also might have a Clear Cam Cover on its way too, that is why there is no photos with the cams on.
Want to saver it for when the covers on. :)
So stay tuned!!!!
