Features.. Corn Juice.

Well i found some more features that my Linkplus G2 supports.

This time Dual Fuel and Ignition tables...
What are these for i asked myself, and well there pretty cool.!

Dual Fuel Tables allow the ECU to be tuned for two completely different setups and switch between which table is used at a given time.

Example:    When running two different octane fuels or two different engine setups.  Dual fuel tables may be used in conjunction with dual ignition and boost tables to completely cater for the different requirements of the two setups.

And after watching some Mighty-Car-Mods and seeing them run there cars on both Pump gas and E85 i thought that would be so sweet, to be able to run a car on race-gas...
And it would be especially good on the track with some extra power.!

At this stage its only a thought, and im not sure if i will pursue it.. But i will definitely look into it and see what's involved....

One hurdle already could be trying to find it here in New Zealand.. :/

Here's a Virtual Dyno run to see what the difference in power could be.
As you can see theres a huge improvement over the whole board.!

The Little Things.

I wasn't completely happy with my wiring for the Coil packs so bought some more lengths of Heat shrink and went for round 2.
Came out a lot better with a more clean tidy look.

And i also got some 4A-GE OEM decals from Ebay, one being a Notice about spark plugs and another 4AGE one for the Cam Cover..

Enjoy. (I am)

Sensored..

I've always been curious on what sort of fuel pressure im running..
So i bought a nice cheap fuel-pressure-sensor from good old Ebay, and installed it in the end of the fuel rail.
Because im running the Link ECU i can connect it straight to that and monitor the fuel pressure on the Laptop..

Works a treat.!

COP'S - V.2

So the coil packs i was running sat a bit proud of the center plate and made it hard to find a way to mount them. Because they were from a 2az-fe they are the longer of the toyota coil packs.

So i went back to the wreckers (Pretty much a second home..) and swapped out the 2az-fe ones for some 1nz-fe coils from a Vitz.

These are slightly shorter and actually seal around the center plate.
I then took out the center plate and drilled some holes for the coils to bolt down to.
Because the mounting part is slightly raised i cut some pipe so the bolts don't pull the coils down to much.

I then splashed some paint on the bolts and center plate.
First a light primer coat, then a good coat of satin black.

Put the rubber back on and tightened up the coils.!

And with that they are all installed.!
Now to wait for a 3D printed dizzy cover...

COP'S

Coil-Over-Plugs

Since i now have a aftermarket ecu in and working, i can go down the wrote of wasted spark.
Which uses 1zz,2zz,2az,etc coils. These sit directly above the spark plugs require a 2 channel ignition drive from the ecu.
As the LinkPlus has up to 8 ignition drives this is easy as.
So I scored some from the wreckers with some wiring and plugs to suit.
I ended up wiring the second ignition drive to the IGF pin in the standard loom, as this goes to where the igniter is so makes it easy to wire in.

First test run.
Wired all Earth wires together
Wired all 12v wires together
And wired 1/4 together and 2/3 together and these go to IGT and IGF which are the 2 ignition drives.

In addition to all that i also tidied up the wiring around the ECU and mounted it under the dash.

Now becuase of the coil packs the Tacho doesnt work. THis is becuase it uses a high level input from the coil negative. The coil packs dont have this because of the inbuilt igniter. SO the only way to get a tacho is from the ECU.
But this signal is a Low Level output, so doesnt work with the standard tacho.

BUT...

There is a way to change it to a low level accepting tacho, to do this i followed what this guy here did and replaced a Resistor on the circuit in the Tacho.!
I used an old Standard Ecu which i removed the plug from to find a suitable resistor.!

A new Brain.!

Its official.. The Standard ecu is no more.!

The Link ECU is all wired in and Running.!
I had to go and use the supplied Link Map sensor as the Ecu is setup for that, but apart from that it is all just plug n play.
And to be able to tune it all sourced a cheap (I am Dutch after all...) Wideband O2 sensor and gauge.
With this i can accurately see what's going on fuelling wise and give it a good road tune.!

LINKed Up..

So a Dirt Cheap LinkPlus G2 turned up on trademe..
The guy was running it on a GTti Charade. Which are bit of a bisare setup, a 3 cylinder turbo..
Because of this checked with Link if it would suit a 4age 16v, and to my surprise it would.!

And here it is.!

So again i decieded to make up a plug n play setup so can just use the standard engine loom.!
Let the fun begin.!

The good thing about this ecu is it has full dwell control, detailed fuel & ignition tables and heaps of other cool features like Launch control, traction control, antilag, and the list goes on.!

Space head..

So along with some guard modification, i thought id try on some spacers that i had laying around.
I use to run these on the Rear with the old rims, so had a set of shortened studs to suit also.
So pulled it all apart, switched the studs, and wacked it all back together.
Also put some 5mm packers on the rear.!

Oh Yea.. Exhaust time..

Oh and the other Saturday we did a full Exhaust system on the Rolla.
Full 2 1/4" system with 1 long resonator and a turbo flow muffler on the rear.
Even enlarged the exit of the extractors to 2 1/4"
But not super happy with the sound, has bit of a harsh raspyness at around 3500rpm.
So will probably end up putting a 2nd resonator in.!

But it works for now, and definitely feels like its improved the performance, with bit more pull in the top rpm's.!

Now to DYNO it and get it running mint and lay down some Power runs... :D
